The term "concentration camp" was first used in the nineteenth century to describe prison camps used by the Spanish military during the Cuban insurrection, those created by America in the Philippines, and, most widely, to refer to British camps built during the South African War (Boer War) to confine Afrikaners in the Transvaal and Cape Colony.

if the reporter had been Cuban, Filipino or South African, would there have been the same fuss over Ken Livingstone's comment?
